Wolves teach us about being humble. This painting was commissioned by Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata, for a Maori family visiting Winnipeg to share their framework for returning Indigenous children in care to their Indigenous families. The wolf shows us how great leaders should be the pack leader lets the elderly, injured, and young members set the pace when traveling, so that no one gets left behind.

• Great leaders recognize their place in a community. they do not see themselves as better than any other member.
